STOP THE RUPERT & RENFREW PLAN

The Rupert & Renfrew Plan allows massive towers of up to 45-storeys,  far out of scale with surrounding neighbourhoods in East Vancouver. And most of our residents have had no input.

The plan also allows for six storey apartment buildings, as of right with no public hearings, throughout the low density residential side street areas. This is the first of the "Villages" planned to be inserted arbitrarily in side streets across the city.

The high level of density brought about by this blanket rezoning plan will have a serious negative impact on traffic and parking, local services, green space, and neighbourhood character that will turn the entire area into an endless construction zone. 

Residents support thoughtful housing solutions. But development must respect existing communities and ensure infrastructure and services are in place first.  Blanket rezoning like the Rupert and Renfrew Plan will irrevocably change the character of our neighbourhoods for the worse.

We are calling on City Council to pause the Rupert & Renfrew Plan and rethink it with a balanced approach that protects livability and values community input.
