JOIN METABOLIC REVOLUTION AND TELL ROBERT F. KENNEDY, JR (HHS SECRETARY-NOMINEE) & BROOKE ROLLINS (USDA SECRETARY-NOMINEE) TO PROTECT CHILDREN FROM ULTRA-PROCESSED FOODS
The Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee (DGAC), which updates the USDA Dietary Guidelines every five years, has announced its recommendations for 2025-2030. Among other failures, the DGAC did not recommend reducing consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs), despite the FDA's own acknowledgment that the clear association between UPFs and poor health outcomes is cause for major concern.
The DGAC may be silent on UPFs, but the American people will not be.
Join Metabolic Revolution in demanding protection for our children who are fed UPFs daily in schools.
The science is clear: ultra-processed foods, which contain artificial additives and industrial ingredients, damage our mitochondria, triggering metabolic dysfunction and chronic disease. The statistics of metabolic diseases in children, including mental disorders, are alarming:
37% of girls and 36% of boys aged 5-14 years are overweight or obese (The Lancet, 2024).
Type 2 diabetes in children continues to rise annually, particularly in minority populations. Prevalence in the 10β to 19βyearβold population has doubled over the past two decades (Journal of Diabetes).
Rates of depression, anxiety, and ADHD are soaring among youth. In 2022 10% of children ages 3-17 had diagnosed anxiety (CDC). Approximately 1 million more children received an ADHD diagnosis in 2022 than in 2016 (Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology).
METABOLIC REVOLUTION CALLS FOR A BAN ON ULTRA-PROCESSED FOODS IN SCHOOLS.
Our health is our right, and our children have a right to grow up without obesity and chronic disease.
